Graham is committed to providing personalized financial strategies and finds enjoyment in cultivating long-term client relationships. He believes that clients benefit most when financial planning and portfolio management are integral components of their wealth advisory team.

Following a career as an officer in the Royal Canadian Navy, Graham joined the financial industry in 1998. In 2013, he partnered with Neil Chappell to create Blue Heron Advisory Group, with a goal to provide clients with a more comprehensive level of financial service.

Having earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta, Graham is also a graduate in the Joint Reserve Command and Staff Course from the Canadian Forces College. Graham holds the Canadian Investment Management (CIM) designation, has earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation, and is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI).

Graham and his wife Diana are avid travellers and long-distance walkers, embarking on the Northern route of the famed Camino de Santiago in 2016. The names of their two Bernadoodles are inspired by their love of travel – “Norte’ after the Camino de Santiago and ‘Lugo’ after a favourite city in North West Spain.

Drawn to the financial industry by his love of numbers and calculations, Neil calls himself a spreadsheet nerd at heart. Blending portfolio design with financial projections, he counsels clients to make important life decisions with confidence.

Neil graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1996. He holds the Canadian Investment Management (CIM) designation and is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI).

Driven by a passion to make a difference in the Victoria community, both Neil and his colleague Graham are proud sponsors of Victoria’s Belfry Theatre since 2013. They also support the Singing Bowl Granola Porridge project – a program that ensures school children in the Victoria community can start their day with a nutritious breakfast. In addition, Neil and Graham have partnered with both the Victoria Foundation and the United Way of Southern Vancouver Island to support numerous children’s charities in the community.

Beyond the firm, Neil and his wife Lisa enjoy travel, great restaurants and live music. Their five children keep them busy and involved in community activities, and the family can often be found exploring the neighbourhood with their French bulldog, Benton.

Courtney is focused on managing the team’s operations and financial planning for clients. She has a passion for providing excellent service and strives to streamline processes to ensure clients feel valued.

Before joining the team in 2013, Courtney graduated from the University of Victoria with Distinction with a degree in Economics and Business. She also holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.

Courtney and her husband, Cole are from the small town of Powell River and love to go back and visit the family’s lake cabin. At home in Esquimalt, they keep busy playing with their two young children, Caden and Cambrie, and entertaining friends and family.

Specializing in financial research, James oversees the team’s trade executions on behalf of clients and enjoys seeing how financial planning and asset allocation strategies intersect to help clients navigate their retirement journey.

Beginning his career as a public sector researcher in England, James moved to Canada in 2012 and joined the Blue Heron Advisory Group in 2014.

James graduated from the University of Loughborough in 2012 with an honours degree in Mathematics and Economics, and is currently pursuing the Chartered Financial Analysis (CFA) designation.

James contributes his British wit to the team and represents his homeland as an enthusiastic cricketer in a Victoria mid-week league. He and his wife Rebecca share a love of the outdoors and enjoy hiking, camping and snowboarding throughout the province, along with three rescue border collies that keep them very busy. 

Hanna Kent BA, CIM®

Driven by a keen interest in advancing her financial knowledge, Hanna supports the team with financial planning, marketing updates and assisting with client requests. 

Before joining the Blue Heron Advisory Group in 2017, Hanna worked in the technology sector. She graduated with distinction from the University of Victoria with a degree in Political Science and Business in 2013. Hanna has also completed her exams and course work for the Chartered Investment Manager and Certified Financial Planner designations.

Hanna and her husband Eric enjoy travelling, spending time with family and fixing up their home built in 1917. Her Airedale Terrier, Dennen, also keeps them both busy with trips to the beach and exploring their community. An avid baker, Hanna often uses the team to taste test her latest creations.

Kenidy Welyk

Kenidy is responsible for the team’s administrative functions and providing an exceptional client experience. Having previously worked in the non-profit sector, Kenidy joined the Blue Heron Advisory Group in 2021.

She graduated from Okanagan College in 2019 with an Administrative Assistant certificate and is currently working towards getting licensed.

Outside of the office, Kenidy and her partner Isaac enjoy spending time with their rescue animals, Trigger and Lucy, travelling and working on home projects.

Caius Sjoquist BA

Caius joined the Blue Heron Advisory Group in June 2023, and supports the team through back-end administration and troubleshooting client inquiries.

Caius graduated from the University of Victoria in 2023 with a degree in Psychology and Business. He is currently working towards getting licensed.

Having grown up abroad, Caius has a keen appreciation for varied cultural foods and music. His weekends are reserved for trying new restaurants and enjoying live concerts with his partner, family and friends.
